New Zealand Well Folks, the shooting is all wrapped up. There are still a couple of mysteries, score wise, in one of the events, but the most important one is posted. It is at: 2011 ICTSF SPORTING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SCORES As expected, the English were dominate and had eight shooters in the top ten. The Australians did very well to with two shooters in the top ten also. To make it in the top ten in the world is one amazing feet, to say the least. The top shooter and given title of world champion for the eighteenth time was George Digweed. He is a truly amazing shooter! The top six shooters had to have a twenty five target shoot off after completion of the fist two hundred targets. Digweed had a thirteen target lead going into the shoot off which was a very comfortable lead for him. So much so, that on his last target of the shoot off he shot from the hip and broke the last target with his second shot!!!!!! The targets in this event were second to none, and I must say that I seen targets here, that I have never seen before in my life. They were just phenomenal!!! The degree of technicality on the presentations were truly world class and then some!! I have discovered some presentations that I will definitely be working on once the weather gets nice again around home. I am making notes now on that point, and will be determined to conquer the presentations that gave me grief. When I came off the field on Sunday I felt a bit discouraged, but then I remembered what Pierre Dubois had told me when I felt the same way at the Nationals in Calgary. Pierre had said to not feel that way as the other shooters had a tough time too, or in his words: “Randy don’t feel bad, the other Masters shooters are saying the same thing” Well, once again Pierre’s words were correct and I am very, very happy to tell you all that I placed 40th over all and was highest scoring Canadian. I shot a 71 on Saturday, which was a good score to build upon on Sunday. However, Sundays score ended up being a 67 for a total of 138. I just didn’t realize at the time, how well things were going to pan out. Also as another point of interest, is that I placed 28th within the open class. When I started out on this adventure, my ambition was to place in the top 100 in the worlds competition and I have more than met my hopes. I am a very happy camper!!! The rest of my team mates did very well too, and I am very proud of each one of them. The whole adventure could have had a very different outcome if it hadn’t been for their friendship and support!! It is a great week to be Canadian, and to have had the honor and privilege to represent our country!!!!! If I am so fortunate as to get to go and represent Canada again some time, I will be a much wiser shooter!! I have also been privileged to meet a large number of great shooters from all over the world and made friends that I will continue to stay in touch with. As well as this, I have met some terrific local people that are off the scale when it comes to great hospitality!! Everyone here is extremely friendly and when they see our Canada shirts they speak up right away and ask questions about home. When the Worlds 2013 was announced and it was made known that it will be in Canada, there was a great applause within the crowd of shooters. I think from the enthusiasm that was shown, it will be very well participated by all countries. I also have the hope of showing all my great friends from the United States a truly fantastic time, the way they have for me over the years. I feel this is a chance to pay them back, for all the good times they have shown me!!!!! I have stories about this adventure that I could go on and on for hours about, so when we meet face to face .......... look out I might be talking your ears right off!!!! I’ll tickle your curiosity with one story about how some high end shotguns like Krieghoff and Perazzi were used to make a trail where there was never a trail before!! Interesting....huh?? Like I said.....we’ll talk!! Next I’ll be trying to get some pictures out to Joe, and have him get them posted on the lost target. You all have that address to be able to view the pictures, so I hope to have something there for all of you. Trust me, the pictures do not do the real thing the justice that it deserves!! Well........... before the pictures I think I’ll have a drink LOL!!! Well, I better cut you all loose from this novel that I have managed to put together, and say thank you ever so much for all your support. It has been truly appreciated and I don’t know how I will ever be able to repay all of you !!! Thanks again....The New Zealand Gang!
