Valleyfield Trap & Skeet Club
St-Stanislas-de-Kostka, Quebec, Canada

First Valleyfield Skeet Open - 12 & 20 Gauge - September 6, 2003

First time visitor to the Valleyfield club.  Was not sure of what to expect, as I heard it had been allowed to run down over the last few years.  Needless to say, what a surprise.  The shoot was for "targets only" and I saw good targets, good referees, and a nice bunch of people.  Free pizza and soda was served for lunch.  The shoot was held to help pay for needed repairs, with the first major project, roof repairs for the club house.

At the moment the club has two skeet fields, but is close to expanding to three fields, and a forth one a distant possibility.  For trap, they have the old fashioned machines that require a trap boy to set targets, hopefully a more modern trap can be aquired by the club.

I cannot say enough about the targets.   I 've really had some problems with wind condtions at a few clubs this year with targets diving, dropping, or heading for the heavens at the drop of a hat, and was not looking forward to shooting in the wind.   You would not believe the number of times this year that I could not get off of station one clean.  Even with a wind blowing, the targets behaved and were alway hitable.  No special effort was needed to shoot decent scores.  The club is a diamond in the rough and has great potential.  Will be on my shoot calender for registered shooting next year.
